This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect your personal information when you use the Platform. By using the Platform, you consent to this Policy.

Bitebro is an AI-powered food choice assistant that gives general, real-time guidance to help users make more mindful food choices. Bitebro is not a medical device or a substitute for personalised medical or dietary advice.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect:

  • Account details: name, email, password, date of birth.
  • Photos & content: food/menu images, text entered in chat.
  • Usage data: scan counts, feature usage, crash logs, device info.
  • Billing: handled by third-party processors (Stripe, PayPal, Apple/Google).
  • Referral & affiliate data: who referred you, who you referred, referral codes used, affiliate attribution, reward tracking.
  • Feedback & surveys: if you choose to participate.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and operate the Platform.
  • To personalise recommendations based on your goals and preferences.
  • To track referrals, allocate points, and run rewards or giveaways.
  • To track affiliate referrals, calculate commissions, and pay approved Affiliates.
  • To communicate with you (service updates, surveys, marketing if you consent).
  • To detect misuse, prevent fraud, and comply with laws.
  • To improve our AI models and service quality.

4. Disclosure of Information

We may disclose personal information to:

  • Service providers (hosting, analytics, AI, payments).
  • Affiliates (for limited referral performance data).
  • Legal authorities if required by law.
  • Partners, only with your explicit consent.

5. Health Connect Data

BiteBro integrates with Google Health Connect to allow users to securely sync health and activity information with the app. Users can choose to grant BiteBro access to specific Health Connect data. BiteBro only accesses the data required to provide its health, activity, and calorie-tracking features.

Health Data We Access

Depending on the permissions granted by the user, BiteBro may access the following information from Health Connect:

  • Steps: Used to display the user's daily step count in BiteBro and track progress toward a daily step target set by the user.
  • Active Calories Burned: Used as an input for BiteBro's activity-aware calorie target calculation and to automatically adjust the user's daily calorie target based on recorded physical activity.
  • Total Calories Burned: Used together with the user's TDEE and activity information to determine and adjust an activity-aware daily calorie target.
  • Exercise: Used to identify the user's recorded physical activities and incorporate exercise activity into BiteBro's calorie-target calculations.

How We Use Health Data

Health Connect data is used to provide BiteBro's core health and nutrition features, including:

  • Automatically synchronizing activity data without requiring users to manually enter it.
  • Displaying daily steps and step-goal progress directly inside the BiteBro app.
  • Using recorded physical activity and calorie expenditure as inputs when calculating an activity-aware daily calorie target.
  • Automatically updating the user's calorie target based on their recorded activity and energy expenditure.

Health Connect data is not used for advertising, selling user information, or unrelated purposes.

User Control

Health Connect permissions are controlled by the user. Users can choose which health data BiteBro is allowed to access and can revoke these permissions at any time through their device's Health Connect settings.

If a user does not grant a particular permission, BiteBro will not access that corresponding Health Connect data. Certain BiteBro features that depend on that data may not be available or may require the user to enter the information manually.

Data Security

BiteBro uses Health Connect as the source for automatically synchronizing the user's health and activity information. Health data is handled only as necessary to provide the features described above and is not used for purposes unrelated to the functionality of the BiteBro application.

6. Referral & Affiliate Data

Referral data is stored to confirm eligibility for rewards or commissions.

Affiliate data may include anonymised performance reports shared with approved partners.

Abuse of referral or affiliate systems may result in account suspension and data being shared for fraud prevention.

7. Retention

We keep referral and affiliate data as long as necessary for rewards, commissions, and compliance. Other data is retained as required for legal, tax, or operational reasons.

8. Your Rights

  • Access, correct, or delete your data.
  • Opt out of marketing at any time.
  • Withdraw consent for referral tracking (note: this may disable referral features).

9. Security

We use encryption and other safeguards to protect your data, but no system is 100% secure.

10. Cookies & Attribution

Referral and affiliate tracking may rely on cookies, device IDs, or attribution SDKs. Disabling them may limit referral benefits.
